The Wednesday October 25th meeting will be at the State Capitol West Tower - 1st Floor Conference Room.
We are asking for all of the local chairs from the 13 rural counties to be here at 9:30 AM for 1 special agenda item; the regular meeting will commence at 10 AM.

HOPWA Awards by the Arizona Department of Housing
The Arizona Department of Housing awarded a total of $228,300 for administration of a "Housing Opportunities for Persons with HIV/AIDS (HOPWA)" to two agencies in rural Arizona serving 6 northern Arizona counties.
a) Mohave County Community and Economic Development, (local government entity) transitioning the HOPWA program from the Public Health Department, was awarded $82,300 in HUD HOPWA entitlement funding to provide eleven units of permanent housing and supportive services for persons of low income and living with HIV/AIDS in Mohave County. Furthermore, the permanent housing is a new resource activity for Mohave County and in conjunction with the local CoC and statewide consolidated planning process the resource will predominantly go to persons of low income, homeless or chronically homeless and living with HIV/AIDS in Mohave County.
b) Northland Cares (local grassroots / non-profit organization) was awarded a total of $146,000 ($90,846 is from HUD HOPWA entitlement funding and $55,154 is from the AZ State Housing Trust Fund) to administer HOPWA in the other five northern Arizona rural counties: Apache, Coconino, Gila, Navajo, and Yavapai. The funding will pay for emergency housing activities such as short term rental assistance, mortgage foreclosure, utility payment assistance, and supportive services. Northland Cares has one physically located administrative office in Prescott, AZ and coordinates locally in all of the other counties for HOPWA referrals through the public health department HIV case managers. In turn, the local public health departments or its subcontracting non profit agencies' provide the essential Ryan White Care Act Title II medical services.

ADOH Announces 2006 Homeless Prevention Awards

The Arizona Department of Housing has announced 23 funding awards, totaling more than $2.7 million from the State Housing Trust Fund, for homeless prevention programs in all 15 Arizona counties.

2006 Area Median Income

Annually updated "Area Median Income" for every county in Arizona have been released.
Click on this link to open. These newly updated "Area Median Income" figures are in effect beginning March 8, 2006.
Special Needs Programs that must adhere to serving households at or below 80% Area Median Income - please begin utilizing immediately.
These include all providers of State Housing Trust "Eviction Prevention / Emergency (Homeless) Housing (EPEH)", HUD Housing Opportunities with HIV/AIDS (HOPWA). HOPWA agencies are Northland Cares (serving Coconino, Apache, Navajo, Gila and Yavapai Counties ....and Mohave County Public Health Department and the HUD McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act program - Shelter Plus Care.
These income limits DO NOT apply to HUD Continuum of Care "Supportive Housing Programs" since there is no income limitations or requirements for SHP.
These income limits also apply to any agency utilizing HOME and State Housing Trust Fund for capital development (new construction, property acquisition, rehab.) and operating subsidies.
